VAN3uard Percussion

VAN3uard Percussion is committed to creativity and the avant-garde in its work, using the endless possibilities of the percussion family as a vehicle, together with the constant process of adaptation that music undergoes when it is fused with other performing arts and audiovisual elements.

VAN3uardism lies in the wide interpretative and repertoire spectrum this ensemble covers, from new creation to its own arrangements and transcriptions of great classics of Western music. VAN3uard Percussion’s shows and concerts capture the attention and stir the emotions of all audiences, bringing to the stage strength, vitality, energy and great doses of fun.

The talent and drive to innovate of these three Andalusian musicians — Víctor, Agustín and Néstor — lead VAN3uard Percussion into a continuous process of research and invention on the musical scene, committing to multidisciplinary projects that fuse different performing arts and artistic styles, with a special influence of Andalusian and Spanish culture.

Their young career began in 2016 within the Andalusian Programme for Young Performers of the Junta de Andalucía. Since then they have regularly worked with leading figures of today’s percussion world such as Tomás Arboledas, Antonio Moreno, Jean Geoffroy and Juanjo Guillem.

Since its creation, VAN3uard Percussion has given numerous performances across Spain, with a special emphasis on Andalusia. Among its international awards, the Third Prize won in 2016 at the International Chamber Music Competition in Catarroja and, in 2018, the Second Prize at the VII “Antón García Abril” International Chamber Music Competition stand out.

Their two productions are currently touring the national and international stage: Dr3aming, an audiovisual and multimedia show that recounts a journey through the dream world with original works for percussion and their own adaptations; and Radix, a show that fuses flamenco and contemporary music, premiered at the ADEM Festival in Geneva (Switzerland) ■
